About
Alexandre Manoukian is a 20-year-old composer based in France. His journey in music began before the age of five, when he started learning the violin. At eleven, he developed a keen interest in composition, arranging, and piano. Much of his early progress came through self-guided study and the invaluable mentorship of his uncle, Frédéric, who is also a composer.
In 2018, Manoukian secured his first role as an arranger for the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande (OSR) in Switzerland. The following year, he composed the Great Armenian Waltz, a piece that premiered at the Yerevan Opera House in Armenia and was later performed multiple times in Geneva.
A turning point in his artistic vision came in 2020 when he watched (again) a Star Wars film. Captivated by the cinematic world and especially the music of John Williams, Manoukian realized his passion for composing for film.
In 2022, he won the Marvin Hamlisch International Film Music Competition (Film Scoring Category), based in New York. That same year, he connected with composer Thomas Chase Jones, who, through the Music Interval Theory Academy (MITA), became his manager. Their collaboration has led to several creative projects involving other composers as well.
Manoukian’s career reached a new milestone in 2024 with a commission for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
2025 proved particularly dynamic, with numerous performances across Europe. His symphonic poem Aristeides and Lyra, inspired by Greek mythology, was premiered by the renowned Orchestre Colonne at Salle Gaveau in Paris.
Expanding his presence in film, he has recently worked on scores for En ton Nom (dir. Clara Perdrizet), a movie about French resistance during the Second World War and Chestnut (dir. Julius Taylor Voss), an 3D animation short. As he continues to travel and collaborate internationally, Alexandre Manoukian remains committed to share his love for music and cinema with people all around the world.
